Welcome to 2017
I don’t know about you but I’m feeling energised after a decent break over Christmas / New Year and I’m looking to the year ahead with renewed optimism and excitement.
The start of the year is always a fabulous time to set goals, and I’ll admit that I enjoyed thinking about all the possibilities for my 2017 while walking along the beach with the wind in my hair in early January.
Like so many successful entrepreneurs I’ve also chosen a word for my 2017…. actually I chose two…. one for my business and one for my personal life.
I’ve done this for the past few years and love the simplicity of it, and the way that I can always come back to my word when I get the jitters.
For example, in 2016 my business word was SOAR. Whenever I had multiple tasks screaming for my attention, I could simply ask, “which one will best help my business soar?” and choose that task to complete first.
This year I’ve chosen FEARLESS as it 100% reflects how I want feel in my business in 2017.
I have some big ideas and am ready to help more conscious businesses create a thriving and profitable business online and I ain’t going to let any niggly doubts or fear get in my way of sharing my gifts in this area.
I’ve also selected CURIOUS for my word in my personal life as it’s how I want to be with my hubby, kids and friends. Being curious enables me to ask “why” they said what they said, or did what they did. No more assumptions and jumping to conclusions! 🙂
But I’ve often thought, why stop there?
Why just choose a word (or two words) for every year?
Why not choose a word for your LIFE?
A long time ago (like 10 years ago when I was back working for BHP Billiton as a senior engineer) I decided to do just that.
I chose a word for my life.
And I decided that it was going to be nothing short of EXCEPTIONAL (actually I decided this wasn’t quite right and so I tweaked it a bit and decided I wanted my life to be truly ECOCEPTIONAL… but you get the drift).
And you know what? It’s cracking up to be just that!
Don’t get me wrong…. I love words of the year and think they’re fantastic for a short-medium term focus, but I truly encourage you to choose a word for your life.
